|
The purpose of this paper is to estimate efficiency and productivity change of Korean Regional Public Hospital before and after the Separation of Dispensary from Medical Practice. Depending on parametric(Stochastic Frontier Approach) and non-parametric approaches(Malmquist Index), we estimate efficiency by using SFA translog model and productivity change by using Malmquist Index. The empirical results show that production inefficiency(not cost inefficiency) made Regional public hospital have productivity reduction after the Separation of Dispensary from Medical Practice. Regional public hospital made effort to improve their cost inefficiency by way of technical progress. Moreover, Regional public hospital in Metropolitan city became less productive than those in Non-metropolitan city in spite of their effort to improve cost inefficiency and technical progress.
